Come on Daffs!
Mar. 6th, 2015 09:06 pmOne more push!
My early daffodils are almost in flower. Tantalisingly close to it. I can see clusters of fattened bulbs, starting to show various shades of yellow, all in their green sheathes. Today they started to bend at the neck, ready to burst for flowering, but so close. One almost flowered today, you could see the sheath over the flower starting to peel off, but it remained an unopened bud. Dammit. Come on you daffs.
My snowdrops are all fair battered to bits, and every time a crocus opens it survives for about ten minutes before it is gone. Either battered by the wind, flattened by the rain or hail, or if it survives the weather, some damn sparrow pops down and rips it apart. The mini iris are still flowering, but are looking increasingly tattered too. I need the daffs to kick in. Come on daffs, I need this. Give me this one.
The takeaway message from this post is that I want my daffodils to start flowering, can you tell?
